The Challenge
- Challenge: Transport the decision makers, dignitaries, VIPs and staff seamlessly throughout the Greater Toronto Area over a 2-day period to see sports fields, stadiums, residences, buildings and train stations – some of which didn't even exist.
- Challenge: Prepare for every scenario at the drop of a hat, in spite of the dates, timing and venues constantly in flux.
- Challenge: Highlight the ease of movement throughout the city by utilizing 18 different forms of transportation.
- Challenge: Maintain seamless movement while encountering international media spotlight and protesters.
Our Plan
With the bid to win the 2015 Pan American Games on the line, stakes were high for Toronto - one of three international finalists. The client's expectations soared for a two-day whirlwind site inspection...21 stops navigating around two protests, using 18 forms of transportation for decision makers, dignitaries and VIPs. Congress Canada's logistics had to be perfect. The team had to be on their game. The goal: seamless movement throughout.
Our Solution
Without an event date, timing or confirmed list of venues, we examined every possible route, entrance, exit, traffic scenario, time of day, construction, weather condition, conflicting city events, and staff timing to incorporate up-to-the-minute details, including accounting for roads and venues that did not yet exist. Contingency plan after contingency plan, we prepared for any obstacle that may occur.
The committee's decision? WE WON! Toronto will host athletes from throughout the Americas at the 2015 Pan American Games!
