The Challenge
There were many challenges during the planning stages. Coordinating tours with "star" personalities who are not accustomed to working with corporate planners or a DMC was both difficult and demanding. Art Smith, who was contracted to prepare all the meals for Barack Obama during his Presidential campaign, attempted (unsuccessfully) to withdraw from his commitment to our group the night before the event. It was imperative for all suppliers involved to be equally well-informed and mutually in agreement on all program operations. Extensive communication and intricate pre-program meetings were all necessary to overall tour execution. CTC Account Executives were on site during every facet of the program to ensure superior levels of service and commitment to perfection.
Our Plan
Chicago Travel Consultants, Inc. (CTC) customized a tour program for the Global Economic Policy Council Meeting, held in Chicago from October 15-19, 2008. The Council is comprised of the top economic decision makers in the world, including economists and CEO's of Fortune 500 companies and leads ongoing research programs on global topics. The relevance of this meeting in this economic climate, combined with the well traveled spouses attending, des- tined CTC to design unparalleled, unique tours that would be sure to impress. By adding Geoffrey Baer, Art Smith, and other personalized options, CTC exceeded all expectations.
Our Solution
The development of an extensively unique and fully interactive tour program transforming our "standard" Chicago tours into impressive, unparalleled experiences. To accomplish this goal, we integrated the famed services of Geoffrey Baer, Art Smith, and a live, vocal training session to produce "once in a lifetime" tours with Chicago zest that mirrored the importance of the meeting overall.
