The Passions Behind the People
Each month we will be sharing the passions behind the people in the DMC Network. This month the spotlight is on Nicole Marsh, CMP, DMCP Partner of Imprint Group, our DMC partner in Colorado and Central Florida.
The memory... approaching my former boss and founder of The Arrangers, Linda Rankin, at my first annual review about buying her business. I was 27 and thought it would be another five years or so before she was ready. Six months later she said she was ready and six months later it was done! Here I am, still loving what I do, nearly 20 years later!
The hobby... sitting in my lawn chair (or in the bleachers) watching my kids play sports. We’ll see 150+ games a year between baseball, soccer, basketball and flag football!
The time of day... when my husband and older son have left for the day and I’m getting ready, but just before I wake the triplets up for school… let’s call it "the silence before the storm".
The vice... Diet Coke! I prefer fountain and never out of the can or bottle. If I must, it has to be over ice.
The color... in looking at my closet, I’d have to say black, but I try to add a little pop of color when I can.
The pet... our Brittany, Aspen. She comes to work with me and is great at getting me out of my desk and around the block, otherwise I’d just sit there all day!
The smell... I’m not a coffee drinker, but love the smell walking into a Starbucks.
The book… I don’t enjoy reading, never have had the time, so I’d probably say Best Practices in Destination Management, the writing of which I spearheaded for the Association of Destination Management Executives Internationals (ADMEI).
The piece of advice… ask for forgiveness and not permission. Sometimes it just has to be that way in the event world to get things done!
The joke… not necessarily a joke, but our family, and now our office, LOVES scaring people – fake snakes, funny masks, or just coming around the corner. Imprint formulated a Halloween compilation of scares and you can see it on the our Facebook page!
The exercise… I’d have to say anything Shaun T – T25 or Insanity DVDs.
The alternate job… my dream is to be an ESPN side-line/field reporter and wouldn’t mind the locker room assignment now and then either <blush>.
The song… currently Macklemore’s "Glorious" – I cry every time I watch the video with his Grandma, and will always turn the volume up for a throwback to Thrift Shop or Downtown.
The taste… black jelly beans! They have to be the Brach’s ones that only come out at Easter.
