The Passions Behind the People
Each month we will be sharing the passions behind the people in the DMC Network. This month the spotlight is on Christy Spisak, Director of Sales and Operations of Cosmo Cool Concepts, our DMC partner in Houston.
The hobby... Spending time with my family is my favorite thing in the world to do. We like to do fun things like going to festivals, the park, the zoo, movies, etc. My daughter is young and I just feel strongly that it’s important to make memories...you never get these years back.
The time of day... Early evening; the daily routine of reading stories, snuggling and putting my daughter to bed is the best part of my day.
The vice... Watching really bad reality television. My husband always gives me grief about it, but clearly he has no taste in good (ha) television.
The color... It changes all the time, but right now I’m really loving turquoise. It’s just a color that makes me feel happy!
The friend... They say you are lucky to have a best friend in every phase of your life. I’m extra lucky because I’ve had the same best friend for every phase of my life. Trisha Faherty has been my best friend since the fifth grade and we’ve been going strong for the last 30+ years.
The pet... We have an animal menagerie at our house that includes a yellow lab, a mid-sized mixed breed dog, a 4-pound miniature dachshund, and a 13-year old cat.
The smell... Puppy breath. Why, why does it smell so good? Sweet little puppy kisses and cuddles and that kibble breath. (see previous answer about our animal menagerie...I have a problem).
The book… I tend to read mostly romance and mystery, but my favorite "adult" book would have to be Eat, Pray, Love. I liked it so much because I think everyone can relate to coming to a crossroads in their life about what they really want and how to find their true happiness.
The piece of advice… It comes from a Maya Angelou quote. "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." I try to remember that in every aspect of my life.
The joke… What did zero say to eight? Nice belt!
The exercise… Does chasing around a 2 and a half year old count?
The alternate job… College Advisor. I had no idea what I wanted to do for my career when I was in college. I had the brief opportunity to work in an advisor’s office in my senior year and at the time I thought maybe I had missed my calling (I didn’t!). I get to use that now by helping to mentor our Houston Area Student MPI chapter.
The song… "You are my sunshine". I sing this song to my daughter every night when I put her to bed. I hope she never realizes what a terrible singer I am.
The taste… Crawfish! My favorite time of year is spring and Crawfish season. My husband can boil a mean pot of crawfish. Spicy crawfish, cold beer and good friends... nothing better!
