Invitation-only gathering connects clients directly with independent DMC leaders while showcasing the value of locally led destination expertise.

DMC Network has hailed its 2026 Exchange a major success following more than 1,000 one-to-one meetings and shared experiences in Seattle.  Held from 10 to 13 September, the invitation-only gathering brought together a select group of 120 clients and DMC leaders from across the Network’s global community.

The Exchange was designed to create the time and space for open conversations, shared learning and stronger relationships between clients and the people who own and lead independent destination management companies around the world.

The program combined pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings with opportunities to experience Seattle through the eyes of local experts. The event was supported by Event Experience, Visit Seattle and The Westin Seattle, with meetings and activities taking place across the hotel, Seattle Convention Center and a variety of venues throughout the city.

Aoife Delaney, Managing Director of DMC Network, said: “The success of the Exchange comes from giving people the opportunity to spend meaningful time together. Clients meet directly with the people who know their destinations, lead their businesses and are personally accountable for the program they deliver."

“This year’s Exchange created exactly the kind of environment we wanted. There were honest conversations, new ideas, valuable connections and a genuine sense of community throughout the event. It brought our ‘We’re Here for You’ promise to life by demonstrating what it means to have knowledgeable, committed people ready to support clients in destinations around the world.”

Alongside the business program guests experienced a range of activities highlighting Seattle’s creativity, culture, food, waterfront and surrounding natural landscape. Guests could choose from options including glassblowing, sailing, exploring the Seattle waterfront, hiking in the Pacific Northwest, visiting Woodinville’s wineries, touring Pike Place Market, taking to the water and discovering the history of Pioneer Square.  Evening events included a rooftop gathering at Bell Harbor and a closing celebration dinner at the Museum of Pop Culture, MoPOP.

“Seattle gave us an extraordinary canvas on which to create this year’s Exchange. It is a destination where innovation, culture, food, water and nature come together, giving groups an incredible range of ways to experience the city.  Our aim was not simply to introduce guests to some of Seattle’s best-known places. We wanted to show how local knowledge, trusted relationships, thoughtful timing and creative program design can turn a visit into something genuinely memorable,” added Michelle Couch, co-owner of the local host DMC partner, Event Experience.

“Our industry continues to change, but the fundamentals of great destination management remain constant. It is about trust, local knowledge, creativity, personal relationships and knowing that there is someone on the ground who genuinely cares about the outcome.  Exchange 2026 demonstrated the strength of those principles and the value of bringing our clients and partners together. We leave Seattle with stronger relationships, fresh perspectives and real excitement about what we can achieve together,” concluded Delaney.
